“Nobel price” in computing awarded to Leslie Valiant

Remember how IBM’s Watson computer defeated human contestants? Much of Leslie Valiant’s research in the 1980s was critical for the development of computers like this. Valiant has received the 2010 A.M. Turing Award from the Association for Computing Machinery.
