Jeff Hawkins on Intelligence

May 27th, 2008 by June von Bonin

Jeff Hawkins is best known as the creator of the PalmPilot PDA - he is the founder of Palm Computing and Handspring.

Now Jeff Hawkins seeks to build truly intelligent computer systems by understanding how the human brain works. He has written the book “On Intelligence“, where he says that the brain does not work like a mikrochip. Instead, it represents a rather simple memory system that keeps track of all kinds of patterns over time - whether they are sights, sounds, textures, or any other kind of input. In other words, experiences (patterns), that help us predict what will happen next.

Watch Jeff Hawkins talking about his theory in this video (from web2expo.com,) or read about it in this article(from Wired).
